    • Elizabeth it means a lot to me that you say this, thank you, thank you. I hope all your wishes come true.

  9. Too late… I not only bought a copy, I liked it so much I ordered another one to give a friend! Well done… I only wish there were MORE of what you know about maps. Are you coming to Maine to teach by any chance???? Cheers, and WELL DONE!

    • Sarah Ann, I am SO glad you like it! I will be giving you lots more where that came from here on the blog and I hope when it gets ramped up it is more that any of us can handle! And I would come to Maine at the smallest invite, one of my favorite places. Will be teaching in Connecticut in the fall of 2012, that is as close as I get for now.

  10. My love of maps extends, I think, from my love of books. I grew up surrounded by books, as my father was a great reader and a collector; nothing elaborate or rare, but some old books from his college days. I love books as objects as well as for their content, and I feel the same way about maps. As functional and useful as maps are (and as imaginative and evocative), I also love the detail and attention that go into making them. As graphic devices, they have to support so much complexity of landscape in a two dimensional surface, with just color, texture, and line to illustrate all of the features of the area depicted. And don’t even get me started going on about topographical maps.

    • MIchael, I won’t get you started, oh, maybe I will, on topographic maps. Any map will do for me, I am an addict. I hope to have lots of kinds of maps here, and lots of resources for people like us. Thanks for coming by.

  11. I put in a request to my public library to buy the book!

    • Thank you Gwen! I am donating some books to the local libraries, and have taught the class with the same name to lots of kids in Denver at the libraries. I hope they all get one.

  12. Good am to you, I like all your posts …

  13. Love this idea, blogged, tweeted and faced booked it!
